Amanda Nelson Returns!

Amanda Nelson will be returning to Fundog Agility / Candy’s Canines for a Distance and Handling workshop on May 21 and 22. Amanda has been of great help to our handlers throughout the years, and has long been at the leading edge of training dogs for distance.

You can gain valuable insight in to distance handling by attending this special weekend … it’s info you are sure to use for the rest of your agility career!

A Family Affair

When I first started in February of 2009 with Bella as a puppy, I never thought I would be competing at trials. I just wanted something fun to do with my dog. Well now my Bella is competing and is usually the only rottie in the bunch! While she will
probably never be as fast as the border collies, with Cheryl’s patience, kindness, and dedication to her students we are trialing and even more important HAVING FUN!

Bella & I love everyone at Fundoggers, they are just a great bunch
of people. These are people I would have never met and could never have called my friends without Cheryl bringing us together.

I now run both my Bella and my sister, Barb Bruce’s dog Bailey – a golden retriever and have now even started beginner agility with my sister’s other dog Izzie who I’m sure will be a great Agility dog in another year or so.

New Class Session Starting!

A new session of classes is coming up quickly – be sure to sign up as space is limited!!!

Canine Good Citizen Classes start on March 1st with the CGC test being offered on March 29th. Is your dog well socialized? Can you take your dog with you in public? This is a great way to test your dog’s skills and ensure that you are being a responsible owner … giving them all the training necessary to get along well with others!

We hope you’ll join in the fun and take another step toward building that bond with your canine companion!

Beginner Agility

Your introduction to the sport of Agility for both the dog and the handler. While teaching the dogs how to navigate the obstacles, the owners are also learning proper handling techniques.

Obstacle sequencing (doing a few obstacles in a row) are introduced midway through the course and the owners begin to learn to “read” their dogs and learn how their own body language affects the dog.

Handling techniques – including various crosses and more – are introduced. This solid foundation is critical for those owners who are bit by the “Agility Bug” and want to continue training with the goal of eventually competing with their dog.

Beginner class is also great for those dogs with confidence problems. Not only are they encouraged to run and jump and climb and play, they also build confidence every time they master an obstacle.

Novice / Advanced Beginner Agility

Here the emphasis is on handling techniques. More advanced obstacle sequences are worked through – sequences likely to be seen in competitions. Owners learn how deal with obstacle traps.

Intermediate / Advanced Agility

Our students experience success in so many ways, in the Agility ring, at Obedience and Rally events, even just living life at home with a peaceful dog that is a good citizen and happy family member.
